Tautoru tailored education

Tautoru is a kaupapa Māori tailored education programme designed to support ākonga who have disengaged from secondary school education or face significant barriers to learning. Grounded in te ao Māori and guided by whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, and aroha, Tautoru provides a nurturing and structured learning environment where every ākonga is valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

This programme is specifically designed for rangatahi who may be struggling due to lack of interest, lack of support, past trauma, developmental delays, undiagnosed neurodivergence, or severe learning difficulties. By acknowledging their individual needs and strengths, Tautoru offers a holistic, strengths-based approach that fosters confidence, connection, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Through culturally responsive teaching, hands-on learning experiences, and strong relationships with whānau and community, Tautoru creates pathways for ākonga to re-engage with education in a meaningful and sustainable way. The programme prioritises wellbeing, identity, and self-determination, ensuring that every ākonga has the tools and support they need to navigate their learning journey successfully.

At Tautoru, we believe in the potential of every ākonga and are committed to providing a learning space where they feel seen, heard, and empowered to thrive.
