Our Mahi
Te Puāwaitanga o Ngāti Hinerangi iwi Trust
Our objective is to further advance the vision of our iwi – Whakatupuranga 2075. This involves restoring our ahurea, taiao, hauora, wāhi whakahirahira and much more.
Step by step, generation after generation, we aim to build a brighter future for our people and community.
We currently have two workstreams that aim to deliver transformative change.
- Wairere Mahi, a labour and maintenance team specialising in environmental restoration and kaitiakitanga through the implementation of track restoration projects, riparian planting and pest control through the Kaimai Range.
- Tautoru, a kaupapa Māori education space that enables continuing education for ākonga of all cultures who have disengaged with school. This programme is for rangatahi from year 9 to year 11. Tutors work with whānau and kura to help tauira find success in education. This pathway aims to be a respite for ākonga before returning to kura or a stepping stone leading into higher education or a career.
